Staying present with others and our needs.

I have been thinking a lot about our needs as I am listening to a fantastic book on this topic. Our difficult emotions ( sadness, fear, anger) flag our unmet need e.g. one might be angry that their project was scrapped and express the frustration but the core reason for that being their need for satisfaction/recognition not being met. When we understand our/others underlying needs, it opens up a lot of space to meet them creatively. When we don't, we end up in a closed space filled with anger, frustration, blame and sadness which we try to fill with distractions. I have personally started to speak the language of needs. It's amazing how we can all meet each others needs in creative ways once we recognise them. Next time when you feel sad or angry or frustrated, ask yourself "What is my need?" and do the same with others "Is your need ..." Have a play…. attaching my scribble on how I see this play in reality :) Happy Friday!
